VSME medal criteria

BRONZE medal

The company initiates its ESG approach by structuring its first indicators and adopting a simple approach that already complies with the fundamentals of the VSME standard.

  • The company sets up clear reporting on its energy, water and waste consumption, as well as its GHG emissions (scope 1 & 2).

  • Simple data are tracked: number of employees, minimum wage level, contractual coverage, workplace accidents, etc.

  • The company draws up an initial structured ESG report, aligned with the basic module of the VSME standard. This formalizes the company's initial commitments and lays the foundations for transparent communication.

The SILVER medal

The company is structuring its ESG strategy to meet the expectations of financiers, customers, and partners, while deepening its commitments.

  • Direct and indirect emissions are measured, and reduction targets are defined for scopes 1 and 2, with an associated action plan.

  • The company identifies its physical risks (flooding, heat, etc.) and its transition risks/opportunities (regulations, technology, etc.) through two scenarios: a scenario of high emissions and a scenario of limiting emissions to +1.5°C.

  • The company organizes its ESG reporting in a coherent way, covering all the themes required by the complete module of the VSME standard.

The GOLD medal

The company fully integrates its ESG commitments into its corporate governance and is beginning to implement concrete actions at all levels - environmental, social and governance.

  • The company has a strategic roadmap validated by management. This plan specifies decarbonization levers, concrete and measurable actions, and reduction targets compatible with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

  • HR policies, code of ethics, fight against corruption, health/safety, onboarding/offboarding... Practices are structured and monitored.

  • The company has identified the major risks that could impact its operations (cyber-attack, health crisis, fire, etc.). A structured plan has been drawn up to ensure business continuity in the event of a crisis:

    • An analysis of critical scenarios

    • Preventive measures

    • An operational recovery strategy
This plan is regularly updated and communicated to the teams concerned.

  • A costed action plan, approved by governance, with a defined budget, a 1.5°C-compatible strategy and monitored progress.

  • An annual report is published according to a recognized standard, with precise data, measured actions and enhanced transparency.

  • The company contributes to collective initiatives, formalizes a human rights policy in line with international standards, and assesses critical human risks in its value chain.
